HISTORY OF THE FOUNDATION

Colusana was founded in 2003 in Miami, Florida, its purpose has always been to provide wheelchairs and orthopedic items to the people who need it most, allowing them to obtain independence to achieve their personal and professional goals, which can be seen translated into a significant improvement in their quality of life.

The Foundation is a nonprofit organization that focuses on helping people with disabilities in the United States and Latin America, with special emphasis on Colombia, focusing its efforts on people with limited economic resources.

“Donate a wheelchair” has been a successful campaign organized by Colusana and thanks to the solidarity of its benefactors, it has been able to deliver more than 650 wheelchairs to people who, due to genetics or as a result of violence, have needed them.

The Colusana Foundation stands out for generating transformation and inclusion, therefore it also promotes the development of sports programs as physical and psychological rehabilitation therapy for people with disabilities, which is why it has been a mediating organization with the sponsorship of Paralympic athletes to integrate them into a disciplined sports training plan, in order to compete in the different high-performance events in the United States.

VISION

By 2025, the Colusana Foundation will be recognized for its work in creating opportunities for recovery and personal fulfillment for those who are disabled, having impacted more than 1,500 lives of children, youth and adults in the Americas, with the support of multinational organizations that allow us to help vulnerable populations in different American countries.

MISSION

The Colusana Foundation seeks to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and at the same time, promotes sports as a space for inclusion, culture, recreation and physical and psychological rehabilitation therapy.
